Housing Justice: Capturing Shared Humanity Focus: Collaboration, breaking stigma, and authentic storytelling. A selection of images from multiple projects: The Housing Justice projects are built on the belief that homelessness can affect anyone and that there is no "typical" look to a person in housing crisis. Working in a free-flowing, collaborative environment, I documented the interactions between hosts, volunteers and participants. My approach was to listen first and shoot second, ensuring that every person felt empowered rather than observed. The resulting series of images attempts to blurs the lines between those giving help and those receiving it, reflecting the charity's mission of building personal connections and a sense of belonging. These images are now used to challenge preconceived ideas of homelessness and to advocate for a more just and compassionate housing system.
